Meet The Instructor

My name is Monica Brewer, and I am a seasoned tax professional, educator, and financial services entrepreneur with over 19 years of experience in tax preparation, compliance, training and development, and small business financial consulting. This is my passion. Being able to interact with clients of all walks of life and assist them with their financial matters makes me feel like this is my purpose. I am the Founder and Owner of Brewer Financial Firm, a firm specializing in tax preparation, bookkeeping, and compliance services for individuals and small businesses.Through my love for tax preparation, I became an educator and trainer in the industry leading me to start Brewer Financial Academy, my school in which I teach taxes, My teaching technique is unique. I use a lot of analogies when I teach. I eliminate a lot of the tax jargon to make it more interesting. I come to learn a lot of the tax jargon is like reading the Bible for most people. The words are often hard to pronounce which gets individuals confused because they are focusing on getting the word right instead of the meaning. I make learning tax law interesting not boring. In my Academy, I also teach bookkeeping and other financial services. I have successfully trained nearly a thousand tax preparers worldwide in my 19 years of professional service. Many of which went on to open their own tax business. To my knowledge, I can proudly say that none have faced audits from the IRS.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with self-employed individuals, owner-operators, small business owners, and wage earners, helping them with complex federal tax returns while maintaining strict compliance standards. I also was employed with The Income Tax School now Surgent Income Tax School as an Income Tax Curriculum Developer from 2019-2021. My superiors were so impressed with my teaching techniques, they wrote two articles on me. To date, much of the information in the courses is information that I added. My professional focus centers on accuracy, documentation integrity, regulatory adherence, and risk mitigation—core principles that directly support IRS due diligence requirements.

I have significant experience interpreting and applying federal tax law, including preparer penalty provisions, Circular 230 standards, and documentation requirements associated with refundable credits, Schedule C income, and compliance-sensitive returns. I have developed internal systems and structured intake procedures designed to strengthen due diligence practices and reduce exposure to preparer penalties. In addition this, I have trained nearly a thousand tax professionals and assisted with half starting their own tax business.

In addition to tax preparation services, I provide guidance to emerging tax professionals on ethical compliance, documentation standards, and responsible return preparation. My instructional approach emphasizes practical application, real-world scenarios, and structured processes that enhance both taxpayer protection and preparer accountability. I teach without all the IRS jargon and I make it clear and simple. I make it fun.

As an instructor, I am committed to promoting professional integrity within the tax industry by equipping tax professionals with the right tools necessary to meet IRS regulatory expectations and uphold the standards of practice required under federal law. My teaching style is different and very unique. I make learning relatable and fun. It’s easy to learn but more importantly understand.
